Prostate cancer is a medical complication that affects more men as compared to women. Its widespread prevalence has resulted in development of numerous myths and misconceptions relating to the ailment. A cancer is a very serious complication where the cells of the body multiply in an uncontrolled manner.
Multiplication of white cells in the body that hampers the functioning of the immune system results in blood cancer. Excessive reproduction of cells in an unnatural manner in the mouth will result in cancer of the mouth. It is difficult to analyze why cancer occurs. A few symptoms and risk factors are known but there is no clear solution that will prevent the cancerous growth from occurring.
An enlargement of prostate, a gland which is situated near the bladder, will squeeze the urethra. This will make it difficult for the individual to pass urine properly. On the other hand, a cancer of the prostate will result in uncontrolled multiplication of cells and the growth may not just squeeze the urethra but may also affect the bladder. Uncontrolled growth will, sooner or later, prove fatal. The same need not be the case with the enlargement of the prostate.
In such a scenario, it is important to get tested to determine the condition of the prostate at regular intervals. Further, any complications should not be equated with cancer immediately. One must find out whether it is just a question of enlargement of the prostate or the presence of a cancerous growth on the same.
